Roy’s Sunday Letter for October 16, 2022

  • Beginning with Visioning. An extended family was considering buying a run-down farmhouse for family outings and vacations. Several “‘saw” moving walls, opening a blocked passageway and a wrecked floor that might hold secrets. Others could not imagine the farmhouse looking different than the unpainted, dilapidated, forlorn, farmhouse. Then, they realized, at the same time, that holding the Vision of what was, and the Vision of what could be, simultaneously. The family farmhouse was restored. They choose to believe in the Vison of what was Possible (money, hard work, patience).

** Wendy’s has restored a 20 yr. employee with Down Syndrome after a new manger fired him for not keeping up. Corporate Wendy’s stepped in with a reception, pay raise, and title. Thousands filed protests, me too.

  • A new blog posted on the web site: “The What, Why, and How Of Work 2023. Working has shifted from traditional offices to coffee shops, libraries, and upgraded technology and spaces to work at home. With each Save I think I am through, but not. Today’s news concerns the decline in the quality of individual writing and reporting, perhaps an outcome of working in isolation of peers, of not rubbing our edges together, even as we all benefit from the transformations of work.

** This question is from the background of all that has changed and continues to change in our world. What Is Still True? (Comments in next Sunday Letter)

  • Notes from a reading on Social Justice: “We decided our mission was not just to remove bad actors, but to restore and remake institutions. Our challenge was to reimagine the world as it ought to be. Faith leaders have provided Wisdom for collective imagining, rituals for resistance, and stories, songs, and art of ancestors to infuse our struggles with purpose.” Adapted from See Not Stranger, Valarie Kaur

** I received an invitation to join a Fantasy Hockey League…..I didn’t need to know that.

  • Insight from a Face Book poster: We teach children to color inside the lines, then expect these same children, now adults, to think outside the box.

Today, I reflect upon a time of writing that began in 2015. in Santa Fe. This Sunday, a day come true, to sign my book and celebrate the possibilities that life gives each of us. Magical days and Magical times.

Why did you protest Wendy’s Corporate stepping up and restoring the job, pay raise and title?

    • Roy Bowen on October 17, 2022 at 10:08 am

My protest was when he was fired, before Wendy’s responded in ways a corporate should have. Thousands sent protest messages as well. Regret not making that clearn
