WAYS YOU CAN AND WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE WITH OTHERS, AND PERHAPS THE WIDER WORLD

My world, your world, is a fast-moving, ever-changing collection of stories, decisions, and events. And yet, many of us want to find an edge or small ways we can and will improve living or working conditions of other persons, animals, rivers and oceans and forests. Choosing to actively participate in “being the difference” will bring new persons, their unique talents motivations to add to your own.

Reading with child at school or elder at a senior center or residential care will add characters and the color of stories not soon forgotten. Joining teams dedicated to clearing a hiking trail or growth limiting the flow of a river is enjoying others while supporting hikers and walkers of all ages to be outdoors. Filling bags of pinto beans at the food bank or adding nutrition to those without a consistent food source by serving a meal or delivery to someone in their home may be their meal for that day or days to come. Being a donor, contributing to the mission and purpose of a cause important to you and family is one more way of being a difference maker in real ways.

The act of showing up can restore trust by those whose sense of trust has been weakened over time by the “systems of care.” Your volunteering may pull others forward to find their own way to make their part of the world a better place. You may be surprised by not wanting to stop, the good feelings of benefitting the nutrition, safety, or transportation needs of others, especially satisfying by joining, learning, and serving together.

New Topic To Share. MailerLite has sent forth my Sunday Letter for three+ years. To improve the consistency of reader support I am considering a shift to Google Partners, a traditional email for groups. I will send forth a test email sometime Sunday afternoon. There will be errors to correct. along with best way to leave Comments and the how best to be responsive to those who read and those who Comment. Thanks for patience…like most roads in Ft Worth, “Under Construction.”

Roy, doing my young person “know what I am doing” imitation.

I laughed at your “ know what I am doing imitation “. I felt the same way checking into at the airport. The kiosks would not scan my bearding pass on my phone. A very kind AA employee noticed my frustration and took over the process. Something as simple as helping a stranger navigate a tough situation for them can make a big difference in their day. As Our minister said last week, “ service is the rent we pay for living” make sure your rent is paid up.

Great points! It is important to show up not just for others but for ourselves. I find that it helps me stay, or at least feel, more relevant. To me that’s a challenge I am experiencing with aging, how to contribute and give back while getting a sense of satisfaction in doing so.
