Roys Sunday Letter fot June 11,2023

  • Beth and I attend a meditation group each Monday morning. Tomorrow, elementary, middle, and high school age youth (40) will join us. The children and youth are enrolled in a Leadership training course of study. Our role will be to allow the younger ones to experience and learn about meditation, long before elderhood. I wish I had that opportunity as a young lad.

** We now have two hummingbirds coming to our feeder. Three or four would be a normal summer count. Global warming, decline of natural habitat?

  • During the years I worked at John Peter Smith Hospital (1988), we knew Monday morning brought the highest number of heart attacks to the ER. This week I read current research has reconfirmed the danger of Monday morning stress. So, pay attention to health impact of stress, especially on Monday morning.

** Good writing from a Fiction book: “She (he) was too young and had no stories or depth of life to reply upon.” An additional comment from recent presentation on the spiked increase of teen suicides, especially teen girls: “Today’s social medias is the #1 killer of our youth.” The Fiction and Real-Life sentences are unrelated and directly related.

  • I am announcing as a Presidential candidate in this Sunday Letter. My political platform’s priorities are: 1) We are our American best when we Respect the uniqueness and culture of all of us. 2) Be kind, gracious, and generous to those you know and those not yet known. 3) Build up the hopes, dreams, and simple every day wants of us all. 4) Along with Defense Budget, I will propose a Peace Budget and Cabinet position. 5) Increase our engagement and support for civic volunteering and community projects. I think Beth will vote for me.
  • The last line of a poem of long ago: ” Help me please, to carry this candle against the wind.” What I know, have learned, is standing against gun violence, resisting those who dictate library books and limiting what/how our children learn, will not stop. The limiting of free thought, words, and writing will increase. So, I carry my candle, as must we all.

Roy, just carrying my candle

You get my vote! How do I contribute to your PAC? I love the candles in the wind visual. If we can learn how to carry it without cupping our hand around it we can win this battle!
And you and Beth get my vote for care-takers of the year. Cheryl and I will be taking the two of you out to dinner as soon as possible after her last chemo session is over on June 22nd. You’re the BEST!

A simple path for us….tis how we were raised
tis how we grew up together, bringing the other along and growing in mutual ways
You are kind; i hope what we are doing is not unique
Caring is caring. Perhaps our ways a bit different, but hopefully others care in their own ways
Time with you two will be a treasured time.
      22nd on the calendar….
      Roy

Will the link for the Westover Hills Magazine be available sometime soon?

    • Roy Bowen on June 11, 2023 at 2:27 pm

This is a nation wide magazine, local ownership per territory. Perhaps one in your area.
Josh is the tech who put the profile together.
After many an effort he wrote that his company did not have the ability to produce a normal link. he was frustrated.
So, I will slow mail you pages (3) off my home printer
      Sad, no?

We be well. Doing too much. Good to have wkend with calendar stress.

      Monday slow mail….Roy

I was disappointed to read a Nascar owner will have a car with donald’s name on it.
Media 2023 so fast moving, so different than even 2020 when we returned to FW.
Our best to your strengthening and wellness. Roy
