Roy’s Sunday Letter For September 14, 2025

This Sunday, I invite you to take a deep dive into the Number 3. There are religious, cultural, and scientific research that indicates the significance of the Number 3 in many societies and countries. The Number 3 is mentioned 485 times in the Bible, 75 of these in the New Testament.

What are 3 books (print, eBook, audio) you would recommend to others? Are the 3 similar or different in style and content? Was it the characters or story line that made each special and unique?

Where are 3 special places you have visited? Would you revisit these places? What made each special (people, physical appearance, cultural expressions)? In what ways are these places a forever part of you?

Who are 3 Heroes you have witnessed, read about, or watched their actions and learn from their values, whether of long ago or today. What one part of each attracted you to their lives? If you could interview these heroes what is something you would want to know? Who would be your 4th Hero?

Are there 3 projects or tasks, small or large, you wish to complete before December 31st? What materials, skills, or help do you need to do so? Which of the three is the most critical or important?

What are 3 Joys you feel deeply, add pleasure, make you smile and be happy? Are these new joys or ones you have experienced and known over time? Have you shared one or all three joys with friends and family?

This week has been disturbing and troublesome for all of us. In such times, I need to hear again from Thomas Merton, Trappist Monk, writer, theologian, mystic, poet, and social activist. In March 1958, Merton had been in Louisville for medical treatment. He had this sudden epiphany at the corner of 4th and Walnut. “I suddenly awoke and realized I loved all people. It was like the illusion of isolation, separation and differences disappeared. I realized I was theirs and they were mine.” Meron wrote about his awaking in “Conjectures of A Guilty Bystander.” Thanks Tom!

Roy, awaking to my own Number 3.

Three books that made an impact on my life, “To Kill A Mockingbird “ “Where the red fern grows” “The Diary of Anne Frank” all of them made me more aware of the plight of others.. Three special places would have to include Vail Colorado where I find peace and serenity. Santa Fe where I have family and Fort Worth where I have true roots. Hero’s come in all shapes and sizes. I just experienced 11 days of solitude because of Covid. Roy and Beth were hero’s to me. They supported me, fed me, encouraged me and continually checked on me. A single mother that works two jobs to support her family is a hero and a teacher that prepares her classroom for a diverse group of children is a hero every day she or he goes to work. My projects and joys are joined. The Closet is a ministry of UCC and I have so much joy each time I enter our little house. We are making a difference every day. .To list 3 things is a challenge for me so I will stop at one. You made me stretch my mind this morning!

    Lovely Morning All,

The above greeting may be the only three in this reprint of a text i sent to two other friends this morning, (there may be another trio hidden further on): It is in response to a prior text to me where one of the last lines offered: “To spend time talking to the Creator is a great honor”.

    Here’s the reprint:

Creating Higher Love – the impulse surged through every cell of mu body and kept me awake seemingly for days. Napping only to find the conversation with Source continuing in the dream space.

After a long realization it feels like I’ve been on a rocket ship streaming into the Sea Of God. A ship made of and powered by this same Higher Love.

The old onus would interject at this point – that there is a responsibility to share with the collective, through some kind of service, the exactitudes and wisdom delivered in our conversations.

Aye, it’s true, though it’s not a long list of Good Orderly Directions.

    It’s simply through one’s presence and being…,

You continue to see and live among the starry sky.
      And that is good.
The trick to starry skies is staying clear of the spin offs flying all about you.
You and SF matching well…..so, continue read, comment, and liv your days in the best of ways.
      Roy

Roy please forgive my tardiness. This Sunday Letter inspires me! And, as I follow through this week by writing out my answers to the questions, I believe I will experience positive transformation. Thank you Roy for working to remain connected to all of us.
