Roy’s Sunday Letter for October 5, 2025
WISDOM THAT TEACHES, COMFORTS, & CHALLENGES
One of Beth’s life enjoyments is finding and copying wisdom quotes and sayings into one of her now five journals. I have lifted today’s writings from one of her journals. I am confident SL readers will find favorites to read more than once, perhaps to write into your own journal.
“No matter what yesterday was like, birds always begin the new day with a song.” Author Unknown
“Keep me away from wisdom that does not cry, from philosophy that does not laugh, and those who are thought great who will not bow before children.” Khalil Gibran
“If you want to go back and fix all the mistakes you have made, you will erase how you got to be you.” Louis CK
“There is quiet comfort in knowing I have yet to meet all the people who will bring magic into my life.” S.M. Klees
“Life’s goodness includes time enough, health wellness, a quiet mind, slow mornings, travel, rest without guilt, nights of true sleep, calm days, meaningful conversations, home cooked meals, people you love, and love you back.” Author Unknown
“The four parts of life that will change you are love, music, art and loss. The first three will keep you wild and full of passion. The last will make you brave.” Erin Van Veren
“If you believe in rainbows, you have to first experience the rain.” Dolly Parton
“One secret of living well is to eat half, walk double, and laugh triple.” Tibetan Proverb
“Take onto yourself the parts you most loved about family, friends, and heroes now gone.” Poetry Journal
“Go into the world today with love for the people you will meet. Let your presence bring a new Light into the hearts and lives of all you will meet.” Mother Teresa
Roy, honoring Beth and her inspiring journals.
“Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.”
Author unknown to me
A good summary of my intent to say in a full page.
Harmony and balance not only a physical but also an emotional and spiritual part of me, of us.
Well done and thank you dear friend….
Roy, I like this entry! Positive thoughts are so needed in our troubled world. Thank you for sharing and thank Beth for caring.
This SL is all Beth, her journals, and her gifts of goodness.
Glad you had positive experience in the reading…..and for our lunch and stories as well.
Good morning Roy

“To thine own self be true, then thou can’t be false to anyone”. Roy and Beth, thank you for sharing and especially you friendship. “I caught myself smiling at a memory we are yet to make”. (?)
Yes. WE are yet to meet all of our heroes to come.
The secret might be do not travel this path alpne.
Whatever we do we do together.
My favorite Mother Theresa quote. It’s highly inspirational but often really hard to do.
• People are unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered. Love them anyway.
• If you do good, people may accuse you of selfish motives. Do good anyway.
• If you are successful, you may win false friends and true enemies. Succeed anyway.
• The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.
• Honesty and transparency make you vulnerable. Be honest and transparent anyway.
• What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight. Build anyway.
• People who really want help may attack you if you help them. Help them anyway.
• Give the world the best you have and you may get hurt. Give the world your best anyway.
Key words, anyway.
Well written dear friend.
All good ones
Thanks Roy for sharing Beth’s quotes from her journal.
A favorite quote of mine is from the movie “The Great Debaters”……Who is the Judge? The judge is GOD. Why is he GOD? Because he decides who wins or loses, not my opponent. Who is your opponent? He does not exist. Why doesn’t he exist? Because he is a mere dissenting voice of the truth I speak.
So well said Billie.
I often ask, “who is at the head of your table?
Your clarity answers the question
We are listening to what is next for us.
Good comments indeed.

In his essay, The Virtue of Kindness, Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin wrote: “Kindness is the essence of greatness, a passport that opens doors and fashions friends. It softens hearts and molds relationships that can last lifetimes. Kind words not only lift our spirits in the moment they are given, but they can linger with us over the years.” You and Beth have showered me with kindness and kind words for many many years. Love you both so much. Linda M
I can be quick to judge, to add a comment where none needed. Working on that.
Met someone not seen in 2+ yrs.
His comment was I was kinder, less angry.
2.5 yrs of regular group and in dividual meditation.
Maybe hope for this old one yet.
We continue…….RB
“There is quiet comfort in knowing I have yet to meet all the people who will bring magic into my life.” S.M. Klees
I especially related to this. I moved back to Fort Worth in 2021 after living elsewhere for many years. Although I knew a few people from the past, and I knew the city, I was basically starting over. I’ve been so blessed by the new friends I’ve made in this time. People have been open to new friendships, something I didn’t know I’d find. And there be even more new friends ahead!
We moved back after being on the road for 28 yrs
Yes, we did have friends we stayed in contact and each now special face to face.
Yes, we have new, unknown friendships,
Observation, as we age, we know more singles than couples.
I sent Linda an email last week. Somewhat guess on her e address,
New Mexico writer friend cared for Art 25 yrs. Agent Orange.
Good to have you as journey partner, Roy
