Roy’s Sunday Letter for April 20, 2025

ALL THE GOOD WORDS

Easter Sunday provides a pause between winter cold and moving quickly into the heat and humidity of the Texas summer. Easter Sunday is the right time to give thought on where we fit in a troubled world as individuals, family, workplace, civic volunteer and with close friends. In this Sunday Letter I am giving attention to Good Words that define us, support us, and guide us in our thoughts and actions.

Forgiveness & Trust — In so many ways these two are threaded together. The grace of Forgiveness increases my level of Trust. With Trust, I openly offer Forgiveness to others. In what ways have you experienced Forgiveness? Is there a Forgiveness you have held back? Perhaps Easter is the right and good time to practice the Forgiveness that is best for you.

Renewal, Declaring, and Proclaiming — Easter season invites us to be filled to be over-flowing with energy and joy, and to share the intimacy of what is true and meaningful. The Easter season brings to focus the common value of protecting others, speaking on their behalf to those in the decision-making role to empower or limit the rights and lives of others. “Five Calls –“Hands Off” are two ways to be present with others, no matter your city. None of us are alone, isolated in our desire to make a difference. Do the Search, Find Renewal, Declaring, and Proclaiming what is best and healthy for you, your neighborhood, community, state and our country.

Beyond Self — The Easter message lifts our eyes and hearts beyond the limiting life of self. A life of being other-directed opens us to compassion, empathy and a respectful, effective system of care and support for all peoples. Is compassion and empathy with others a part of your personal or faith expression today?

Awaken The Sacred — Within our spiritual selves there is a rhythm, a unique tone. In our cars, market, or lunch with friends, our tone blends with the sounds of us all. What is created is a new, fresh rumbling sound, forever present, forever Sacred. Be still, listen to your own tone, your own Sacred sound.

Spiritual Practice & Social Responsibility — In my experience these topics are often understood separately. Spiritual values and practices promote quality and responsive social strategies and services. Spiritual Practice, especially when shared with others, restores and sustains us, returning us to fulfill the hopes and dreams of Social Responsibility. What is the right balance for you with Spiritual Practice and Social Responsibility? Do you know someone who shows you a balance you admire? Perhaps talking and listening with others would be helpful.

There are so many Good Words to bring forth in the months ahead. This is a beginning. Add your Comment to the Comments of other Sunday Letter readers. By making and reading our Comments it is our way of creating Community.

Roy, eager to learn with you about Balance, Declaring, and Forgiveness

I am a word guy. I am also an image guy.
I image speakers, artists, and musicians telling us, showing us the humanity of others as a way of showing us our own humanity.
Your encouragement links with others and that is good.
I am, we are, the better from your presence and Comments. RB

Roy, you remind us to forgive, renew, think and love beyond ourselves and remember we are all God’s children. Happy Easter, Christ is Risen, Indeed.

Both risen and present among us.
We each are connected through many a circle, continuing to serve, to grow.
I like the phrases “being aware” and “being present.”
Both ground me, even in troubled times. Bless you dear friend,,,,Roy and Beth

Yesterday I heard a segment on the radio from a NM native, who shared her upbringing moment from her mother. She, her mother, started the day by opening the door and greeting the day anew. Each day. With gratitude for this/that particular day. She greeted the trees and the sky and the clouds and gave thanks. Today I greet the day and think how grateful I am to have you in my life. You call us forth to be more. Happy Easter beautiful friend, and to your Beth.

I would treasure opening our door once more in SFe….humbling and awesome.
Our roots are indeed here, however disappointing in the small people. The big people, the networkers, the building up of all of us, together are my heroes.
Taste is a local eatery. No prices. Dedicated to serve the underserved. Most staff are volunteers. Taste just opened a 2nd site in Arlington.
Good news and good people around us, doing what they do, recognized or not.
Asare you, the teens, the vets…..and more.
So, today I do not have SFe door to open. I do have a heart so I will open the physical and spiritual parts of me as best possible.RB

Wonderful reminders! I am on the grants committee of the Community Foundation so I am getting a first had view of the amazing work so many do to help others. I am also reminded of the challenges many organizations face in this time of change and uncertainty. Hard to know that so many will be impacted by forces outside their organization and how much it impacts those they seek to help.

Friend Roger…..I served the same SFCF committee for 3 yrs. Different times. Site visits from Taos, woth someone you know, to ABq.
Voting day always interesting. Trade-offs, surprises, some applications better on paper than site visit, and the reverse as well.
Delighted for you and Annmarie as well.
Netflix, “Res Ball” brought forward all the reasons we will always be honored for our SFe experiences, faces, and events.
      We keep at it.
I stare at a blank page every Friday morning.
      good thoughts to all…..RB
