Searching For Stability
Turning away from the upheaval of politics, market reports, wars and societal chaos, I thought Weather might be a safe place to find stability, maybe even a little consistency.
Fort Worth was in the OK 90's until early June. Then, we went from 95 to 113 and stayed until last weeks. No rain from June 3 till mid-August. Even the weather couldn't be counted on to make sense, to be consistent with past June and July's.
So, where can I place my feet on solid ground that does not shift and slide causing to lose my emotional, financial, physical, or spiritual balance, my balance in the world?
The answer can be found in pivoting, shifting, rebalancing. Letting the events of the world shirl ... toes solid, feet on the ground.
A boat on water is never stable, even at rest, in her slip or anchorage, as water and current move horizontally as well ad rise and fall constantly. But, the boat maintains its stability nevertheless. Underway the boat rolls, pitches, twists but continues forward, toward a waypoint/destination. Those aboard must maintain their own balance as they move about the vessel, maintaining sails, reacting at the helm or going below. Coaxing the vessel to continue, stay off the bottom and not to hit anything. Sailing is about the journey and not necessarily the destination. Keeping balance always for this is how we grow.
